Telepsychiatry

Telepsychiatry is the form of telemedicine that allows patients to access psychiatric care using audio-video interface such as videoconferencing.

HIPAA compliant electronic systems used will incorporate network and software security protocols to protect the confidentiality of patient identification and imaging data and will include measures to safeguard the data and to ensure its integrity against intentional or unintentional corruption.

Expected Benefits:

  • Improved access to psychiatric care by enabling a patient to remain in his/her home or office.
  • Able to access care in situations when not able to make to appointment in person.
  • Obtaining expertise of a distant specialist.

Join your NeuroPsych Telehealth session: Please sign the TelePsychiatry informed consent and pay your copay online before virtually seeing your Clinician.

Join using a Mac or Windows computer

  1. Go to: https://zoom.us/join
  2. Type YOUR CLINICIAN’S MEETING ID for the meeting ID and click “Join” (Please obtain the meeting ID from the office, call 703-865-8686).
  3. This will put you in the waiting room. When prompted, click “Join with Video and Audio” Stay there until your Clinician lets you in.
  4. When the Clinician lets you in, you should see yourself and your Clinician on camera.
  5. When you are done with the session, click “Leave Meeting” in the lower right corner, or just close the program.

If you Join before the Clinician, you will get a different message that says, “Waiting for the Host to start the meeting”. Wait there. Do not sign in. You will be brought into the meeting when your Clinician joins.

Join using iPhone/iPad or Android

  1. Go to the app store and search for and install “Zoom Cloud Meetings
  2. Tap the cloud next to “Zoom Cloud Meetings” and allow the app to install.
  3. Open Zoom, then choose “Join
  4. Type YOUR CLINICIAN’S MEETING ID for the meeting ID and tap “Join” (Please obtain the meeting ID from the office, call 703-865-8686).
  5. This will take you to the waiting room.
  6. When prompted, click “Join with Video” Wait there until your Clinician admits you into the meeting.
  7. Be sure to allow the app to use your Microphone, camera and confirm any other prompts that pop up.
  8. When the Clinician lets you in, you should see yourself and your Clinician on camera.
  9. Be sure to allow the app to use internet audio
  10. When you are done with the session, click “Leave Meeting” in the lower right corner, or just close the program.
