Jaaska Cather, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received a Post MSN Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Maryville University and has a Master of Science in Nursing degree, with a concentration in Primary Care of the Family, from Marymount University. Jaaska is a native of Northern Virginia and has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from George Mason University. In addition to psychiatric nursing experience in Partial Hospitalization Programs, Jaaska has clinical nursing expertise in cardiovascular care, case management and care coordination, critical care, emergency department nursing, and previous ANCC certifications in Cardiac-Vascular nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner.
Jaaska’s strengths are building rapport and empowering her patients to be active participants in their treatment plans. She uses a trauma informed model of care to provide a safe and therapeutic environment. Special areas of interest are women’s mental health and advocacy for LGBTQ health and rights.
